The Michael Vincent Rosen-Pipitone Rising Star Award is named after one of BMCC’s own. Michael was a stand-up comedian, playwright and actor who touched the lives of many. Anyone who knew Michael was blessed to have spent time with him. Michael passed away on May 25, 2013 from Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS) a side effect of medication. It is our goal to carry on his legacy. The award is to be given to a BMCC student, man or woman, who embodies the spirit of Michael. This person could be an actor, a writer, or any creative person tied to one of the festival’s films – all elements that made up Michael.
Fall 2015 – Dylan Arnow. Dylan worked incredibly hard all semester; keeping up with both VPC films, Rice and ADDS. When things got hard, however, Dylan was always there and optimistic throughout the entire ride. He put the club first and was an amazing leader as Vice President of the Video Production Club. He earned this award, not only because of his hard work, but also because of the love and optimism he shared with everyone.
Fall 2015 – Chris London. Chris has shown love and dedication to his work when it comes to making movies. While working as a Producer for Deja Vu, Chris showed extreme professionalism and was able to put things together in the face of adversity. Right before the fall semester, Chris ended up in the hospital and things were not looking good. Video Production Club members all came to his side to wish him well and pray. Chris is a fighter, though, and pulled through. Even afterwards he wouldn’t stop and continued working hard to finish his film, Deja Vu, which nearly swept the festival and earned him an award for Best Film. With the amount of hard work and determination Chris puts in to every job, there’s no doubt he’s going to be a star.
Spring 2015 – Rafael Gell. Rafael is an extraordinary student. He helps out on countless films and goes above and beyond as a cabinet member. Rafael never backed down from any task given to him, nothing was too large to tackle. He single-handedly put together one of the most successful festivals the Video Production Club has held. During the Fall 2015 semester, Rafael became the President of the club and continues to impress us all.
Fall 2014 – Andre Saul. Andre is involved in the Video Production Club at BMCC. He works everyday to perfect his craft. Andre spent long hours away from his wife and son to be on multiple sets and the films simply could not have been made without Andre’s dedication.
Spring 2014 – Daniel Torres. Daniel Torres holds the distinction of being the only person to have worked on all three club films for the Spring 2014 festival. Daniel is a workhorse who will come running to a set at the drop of a hat. Daniel has been a member of the Video Production Club since it’s inception.
Spring 2014 – Salah Anwar. Salah is a dedicated producer, who led the productions on two club short films this semester, working tirelessly as a producer, editor, sound mixer, cinematography and assistant director. He found last minute replacements when needed and brought in footage for critiques. A shining example for club members.
Fall 2013 – Oriana Lineweaver. Oriana is involved in theatre and film at BMCC. She acted alongside Michael Pipitone in “Disney: Director’s Cut” and was involved in three different films at the Fall 2013 Festival.
